Aside from the obvious economic benefits of getting an education, the benefits on the community level are significant, as stated in the
UNICEF report: (http://www.unicef.org/philippines/brief06_fnl.pdf) “Schooling disparities, an early life lever for better (or worse) equity in the future”. This includes more cohesive communities, stronger sense of nationhood, slower population growth, reduced risks from infectious diseases, and crime reduction.
Batang Pinangga would like to believe that supporting education of poor children is one strategic and sustainable solution for improving the quality of life in the communities, more particularly, of the children. Investing in education gives us well-informed future community leaders that would carry on the goals of community development.
Batang Bright is a scholarship program initiated by Batang Pinangga for the poor but motivated children.
