Children Meet and Party with their School Sponsors
On February 10, 2010 children were invited to join in the fellowship party with dentists and volunteers from Japan, representing the Kanagawa Alliance of Dental Volunteers Overseas (KADVO). The children were treated to a delicious lunch, a dip in the lavish chocolate fountain, and a dip in the pool or at the beach.
For most if not all children meeting personally their Japanese sponsors is a continuing wish. For a number of children it was a wish come true this year.
Like Kevin. He receives sponsorship from the family of Minuro Kondou, whom he keeps writing, and who writes him back. While roaming around looking for faces, Kevin heard someone said Minuro, and immediately Kevin jumped and hugged the guy facing him. They talked, like a child would to his father who was absent for long.
KADVO holds an annual dental mission in Cebu on the occasion of the Dental Health month of February. Apart from the annual mission, five years ago KADVO initiated KADVO Heart Parents, a sponsorship project giving educational support for poor children.
So every year a child has a chance to meet his/her heart-parent. And who knows who KADVO brings next year.
